Islanders Eliminate Bruins With Game 6 Win, Advance To Semifinals
The New York Islanders have eliminated the Boston Bruins from the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 5-2 victory in Game 6 at TD Garden on Tuesday night. The Islanders advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, where they will face the Carolina Hurricanes.
Clutch Performance In Crucial Game
The Islanders came out firing in the first period, scoring two goals in the first five minutes of the game. Brock Nelson opened the scoring just 1:30 into the game, and Anders Lee doubled the lead at 4:21. The Bruins answered back with a goal from Brad Marchand at 10:20, but the Islanders regained their two-goal lead when Nelson scored his second of the game at 14:20.
The Islanders continued to control the pace of play in the second period, and they extended their lead to 4-1 when Mathew Barzal scored a power-play goal at 12:30. The Bruins cut the lead to 4-2 on a goal from Jake DeBrusk at 18:40, but the Islanders held on to their lead in the third period and added an empty-net goal from Josh Bailey at 18:50 to seal the victory.
