Marshall Is Going To The Sun Belt Championship Game

Marshall’s offense was a powerhouse throughout the game, led by quarterback Henry Colombi, who threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns. Receivers Corey Gammage and Talik Keaton each hauled in over 100 yards receiving, while running back Khalan Laborn rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown.

The defense also stepped up, intercepting Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Chandler Rogers three times. Defensive end Isaiah Gibson recorded two sacks, while linebacker Chase Hancock led the team with 10 tackles.

This is the first time since 2002 that Marshall will play in a conference championship game. The Thundering Herd has a 10-0 record at the Joan C. Edwards Stadium this season, providing them with a significant home-field advantage.

“This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players,” said Marshall coach Charles Huff. “We’re excited for the opportunity to compete for a championship.”

Marshall will face the winner of the Troy-Coastal Carolina game, which will be played on December 2. The Sun Belt Championship Game will be held on December 9 at Cajun Field in Lafayette, Louisiana.

A victory in the championship game would secure Marshall’s first conference title since 2002 and an automatic berth to a bowl game. The Thundering Herd are poised to make a statement on the national stage and cement their status as a contender in the FBS.
