Dekkers finished the game with 211 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 18 of 27 passes. He also rushed for 52 yards on 11 carries, including a key 22-yard run in the fourth quarter that set up a Brock touchdown.

“Hunter played really well today,” said Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell. “He made some big plays with his arm and his legs. He’s a special player.”

Brock led Iowa State’s rushing attack with 89 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown. Hutchinson caught five passes for 73 yards and a touchdown, while Noel had three receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown.

The Iowa State defense held West Virginia to just 289 total yards and forced two turnovers. Linebacker Jake Hummel led the Cyclones with 10 tackles, while safety Beau Freyler had eight tackles and an interception.

“Our defense played really well today,” said Campbell. “They kept West Virginia out of the end zone until the fourth quarter and forced some big turnovers.”

With the victory, Iowa State improves to 3-0 on the season. The Cyclones will face their biggest test of the season next Saturday when they travel to No. 5 Baylor.

“We’re going to enjoy this win for a few hours,” said Campbell. “But then we have to get ready for a huge challenge next week against Baylor.”
