Welcome To The NHL: The Stars Introduce Themselves To Utah With A 2

The Dallas Stars made their highly anticipated debut in Salt Lake City on Tuesday night, taking on the Vegas Golden Knights in a preseason matchup. The game marked the first time an NHL team had played in Utah since the Utah Grizzlies left the ECHL in 2005.

The Stars gave the Utah crowd plenty to cheer about, scoring two goals in the first period and cruising to a 2-0 victory. Jason Robertson and Jamie Benn provided the offense, while Scott Wedgewood stopped all 28 shots he faced in net.

The atmosphere inside Vivint Arena was electric from the opening puck drop. The sellout crowd was eager to see the Stars in action, and they were not disappointed.

Robertson opened the scoring just 4:19 into the game, taking a pass from Wyatt Johnston and firing a shot past Golden Knights goalie Adin Hill. Benn doubled the lead less than six minutes later, scoring on a power play with assists from Robertson and Miro Heiskanen.

The Stars controlled the play for most of the night, outshooting the Golden Knights 30-28. Wedgewood was solid in net, making several key saves to preserve the shutout.

The Utah crowd gave the Stars a warm welcome, cheering them on throughout the game. The team’s performance on the ice was a reflection of the excitement that surrounds the NHL’s arrival in Utah.

“It was an incredible atmosphere,” said Stars coach Rick Bowness. “The fans were so loud and supportive. It was a great way to introduce ourselves to the Utah community.”

The Stars will continue their preseason schedule with a game against the Colorado Avalanche in Denver on Thursday night. They will then open the regular season at home against the Nashville Predators on October 14th.
