“I’m proud of our team for their hard work and determination,” said Head Coach Shane Beamer. “We came out with energy and executed our game plan well.”
South Carolina started the game strong with a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Quarterback Spencer Rattler threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his leadership and accuracy. Running back MarShawn Lloyd contributed to the offense with 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Wofford fought back in the second quarter with a touchdown, but South Carolina responded with a touchdown of their own. The Gamecocks maintained their momentum throughout the game, extending their lead to 28-7 at halftime.
In the second half, South Carolina continued to dominate. The defense, led by defensive end Zacch Pickens with seven tackles and a sack, held Wofford to just one touchdown. The offense added another 10 points, securing the victory.
“This win gives us great momentum heading into bowl season,” said wide receiver Jaheim Oatis. “We’re excited to keep playing and representing South Carolina.”
The victory has significant implications for the Gamecocks’ bowl destination. They are expected to receive an invitation to a prestigious bowl game, potentially the Belk Bowl or Gator Bowl.
The win also marks a positive end to a season that had its challenges. South Carolina struggled early on but rallied together in the second half of the season. Beamer’s leadership and the team’s resilience have sparked hope for a bright future in Columbia.
