CU Buffs Not Perfect, But Dominant In Rolling Past Utah
Boulder, Colo. – The Colorado Buffaloes may not be perfect, but they showed plenty of dominance in Saturday’s 45-14 victory over the Utah Utes.
Buffs Offense Rolls
Quarterback Owen McCown threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns, and running back Deion Smith rushed for 111 yards and two scores. The Buffs offense converted 8 of 13 third-down attempts and held the ball for nearly 35 minutes.
Defense Shines
The Buffs defense allowed just 262 yards of total offense, including only 14 yards on the ground. They also forced two turnovers and recorded six sacks.
Quotes
“We’re still a work in progress, but we’re getting better every week,” said McCown. “We’re starting to find our rhythm on offense, and our defense is playing with a lot of confidence.”
“This was a big win for us,” said head coach Karl Dorrell. “We needed to bounce back from last week’s loss, and our guys did that today. We showed a lot of resilience and a lot of character.”
Looking Ahead
The Buffs (3-2) will return to action next Saturday at California (3-2). The Golden Bears have lost their last two games, but they will be a tough test for Colorado.
“We have to stay focused and continue to work hard,” said Smith. “We have a lot of tough games ahead of us, and we need to be ready for the challenge.”
