FSU Football Fires Adam Fuller, Alex Atkins, Ron Dugans After 52

Under Fuller’s leadership, the Seminoles’ offense failed to meet expectations, ranking in the bottom half of the ACC in multiple statistical categories. FSU averaged just 21.8 points per game and struggled to establish a consistent running attack. Quarterbacks struggled under Atkins’ guidance, with Jordan Travis and Tate Rodemaker combining for 14 interceptions and only 19 touchdowns.

Dugans’ running backs unit also underperformed, with Treshaun Ward being the only player to rush for over 400 yards. The Seminoles’ ground game averaged just 3.8 yards per carry, one of the worst marks in the Power Five conferences.

In a statement, Alford expressed his disappointment with the offense’s performance and the need for improvement. “Our offense has not met our expectations, and we believe these changes are necessary to move forward. We are committed to building a high-powered and explosive offense that will help us compete for championships.”

FSU has already begun its search for Fuller, Atkins, and Dugans’ replacements. The Seminoles have been linked to several potential candidates, including former Miami Hurricanes offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and former Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterbacks coach Brad Johnson.

The dismissal of these three coaches is a significant step in FSU’s rebuilding process. The Seminoles are hoping to bounce back from their disappointing 2022 season and return to contention in the ACC.
