In an exclusive interview with the Swedish newspaper Expressen, Lundgren said that he was diagnosed with the disease in October 2022 after a routine medical checkup. He underwent surgery to remove the cancerous tissue and is currently undergoing radiation therapy.
“I was very lucky to catch it early,” Lundgren told Expressen. “My doctor said that if I had waited even a few more months, it could have been a much more serious situation.”
Lundgren urged men over the age of 50 to get regular prostate exams, as early detection can greatly improve the chances of a successful treatment.
Lundgren is currently receiving radiation therapy at the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm. He said that the treatment has some side effects, such as fatigue and skin irritation, but he is “getting through it.”
“I’m taking it one day at a time,” Lundgren said. “I’m confident that I will beat this cancer and get back to my normal life.”
Lundgren has used his platform to raise awareness about prostate cancer and support other men who are facing the disease. He has shared his story on social media and has spoken out about the importance of early detection and treatment.
“I want to let other men know that they are not alone in this,” Lundgren said. “There is hope and support out there.”
Lundgren said that he is optimistic about his recovery and is looking forward to returning to his acting career. He is currently scheduled to appear in the upcoming “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” film.
“I’m not going to let this cancer define me,” Lundgren said. “I’m going to beat it and come back stronger than ever.”
